BP Axed Jobs and Replaced This with Artificial Intelligence (AI)

In a sign of things to come, global oil and gas company BP brought digital capabilities into the business, with artificial intelligence (AI) playing an increasing role in engineering and marketing operations.
The firm estimates that by the end of 2026, there will be a savings of $2b and as part of a cost-saving drive of $500m, about 5% or 4,700 of BP’s 90,000 employees worldwide will be laid off. BP is of course not a supply chain firm but this is a good reference point for the supply chain industry who will be looking at optimising and improving operations along the way.
